A mock UX research project

This mock case study involves a barbershop located in Wilton Manors, Florida with a predominantly gay clientele.

They’ve been able to reopen the shop as the Covid-19 pandemic heads in a better direction, but their sales are still falling below that of the same period in 2019.

My mock UX Design project was to conduct user research to figure out “why?” and to offer some UX design solutions.

BACKGROUND RESEARCH

Beginning with background research, I came across a study compiled by McKinsey & Company, “How COVID-19 is changing consumer behavior — now and forever.” I felt several observations might be relevant to Buck & Beard: 1) A shakeup in what consumers value, 2) Discovery of at-home alternatives, and 3) A decline in discretionary spending. With these in mind, I began preparing my own user research project.
